Hi Thabiso

The answer is Yes and No. It depends on what you mean by "doing business".

Yes if that is where your establishment is. If you are producing hard goods, operating a services business or having any kind of establishment in South Africa, you will need to be registered with CIPRO, SARS, relevant regulator, etc when needed. OK CIPRO is not optional and you will need to pay tax, off course.

No if you are only exporting to a particular country. You don't need to have your business registered there. You just follow the export procedures. The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and/ or International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) which is also based in the Department of Trade and Industry will help you with procedures of importing or exporting.

Hope this helps.
