bronkhorstspruit Bronkhorstspruit is a former farming community which lies in the border of Pretoria and Mpumalanga province. This small town attracts a number of agriculture, game and property development investors. Recently, this town has developed more into a residential area with a number of agricultural and wild life farming opportunities. Most of the professionals seek and commute to Pretoria for their jobs, because of its close proximity (not more than 50 kilomtres).

Interesting Places and Tourist Attractions in Bronkhorstspruit

The Nan Hua Temple Bronkhorstspruit is popular for hosting Nan Hua Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in Southern Africa and the headquarters for the Fo Guang Shan Order in Africa. It is a beautiful building which stands out and now has a retreat centre and a guesthouse.

The Bronkhorstspruit dam

The dam is one of the most popular attractions in the town. Now a residential area, the area still maintains its serenity and country feel. The dam is very popular to bird watchers as it hosts a variety of birds including the black eagle. As a tourist you may also stay in Pretoria or Johannesburg as the dam is about an hour away from these big cities. There are also a number of beautiful accommodation establishments in the area.

Rietvlei Nature Reserve

Situated in close proximity of Pretoria and Johannesburg, the Rietvlei Nature Reserve ranks with the largest nature reserves in the world. In its 3 800 ha of natural landscape, it accommodates about 1 600 head of game. The most popular inhabitants include a blesbuck, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, eland, Burchell's zebra, waterbuck, reedbuck, springbuck, mountain reedbuck, steenbuck and grey duiker.

The best areas and programs to visit in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve include the Marais Dam picnic site, bird watching spots with braai/ barbeque facilities, animal watching spots for cheetahs, leopards, buffalos and white rhinos, horse trails and supervised hiking trails. The the Rietvlei Nature Reserve is open from 05h30 to 17h00 and visitors are allowed to stay until 19h00 in September to March. In winter (April to August) the nature reserve is open from 06h00 to 16:00 with an allowance for guests to stay inside until 18h00.

Bronkhorstspruit is a fast growing suburb near Pretoria. Its residential area is also growing and has the modern architecture whilst maintaining the natural surroundings. Get nature so close to the city.
