The Glen High School

The Glen High School is one of the high schools in Pretoria East. It is also one of the English public high schools in Waterkloof Glen and surrounding areas. Please check our full directory for public and private schools in Pretoria below. The rapid growth and expansion of Pretoria in the 1970s led the then Transvaal Department of Education to establish Glen High in 1976. The parents who had a big influence on the school's identity, were the ones who gave it its name. The thistle is the school's badge. They only had the gymnasium, as their only facility during the school's early years. It was in the 1980s, that they built more facilities after the Department of Education leveled their terrain. Soon after that, they constructed the courts, playing fields, shooting range and cricket nets. Their initial huge project was the swimming pool, and the Indoor Sports Centre was the next. The sports center includes four change rooms, three squash courts, a kitchenette, three sports storerooms and hospitality areas. Smaller projects and plans to further expand their facilities are part of their whole development plan.

It seems that one of their most important additions to their list of facilities was the Administration Block, which was built in 1995. Extra boardroom and offices were added. The reception area was further enhanced and expanded. Their latest reception facilities double up and serve as a foyer for the hall of the school. This offers a really attractive and nice area to rest for pupils and visitors, as well. The hall and the foyers are the soul and heart of the school. In 1996, they installed 30 more computers, which are equiped with the latest technology.

Glen High School is a public co-ed high school with English as their medium of instruction. The school is located in Waterkloof Glen, Pretoria. The school has about 1000 students.
