Die Wilgers suburb, also known as the Willows suburb, is a suburb located in Pretoria East, neighbouring Equestria, Lynwood Ridger, Faerie Glen, Murrayfield, Wapadrand and a number of Estates in the Silver Lakes area. There are a number of amenities nearby, including Gyms, Health Spas, crèches and attractions. The suburb is located close to the N1 to Johannesburg and N4 to Pretoria and Witbank.

The Association

The suburb has established an association that deals with safety, environmental and general community issues. This makes this area one of the safest suburbs to live in in Pretoria. The suburb is also very up market and offers great lifestyle improvement opportunities. It hosts great shopping malls, two Motor Dealerships and a couple of office complexes. The community is very influential in what is happening in the suburb, and this has led to the good growth in the value of the properties in the neighbourhood.

Security

This suburb is gated and secured by means of the 24 hour security guards. The cars that enter and leave the suburb are monitored at all times. Community members voluntarily keep the neighbourhood guarded financially. There are patrols in possession of two way radios ensuring high security of the community members and their possessions. Community members assist in fighting crime and several community members own the radios themselves to tip each other of irregularities.

This community achieved great success in fighting crime and offers some training to other suburbs in Pretoria East. The linkages between Die Wilgers, its neighbouring suburbs and the police is demonstrated by the low crime rate in the area.
